Finding the PNM’s on the Fence

July 25, 2012

While some young women are gung-ho about joining a sorority, others are not so keen on the idea. With all the stereotypes and bad media out there, who can blame them? But it is these women, who take the time to thoroughly think through a decision and weigh all of their options before making an important commitment. They can often make the best and most dedicated members. So, don’t ever count them out!

It’s your job, as a sorority woman, to find those women who may be on the fence about going through sorority recruitment and help them make their decision.

The best way to do this is through your actions. Show these women how great you and your sisters are by living all of your sorority’s values at all times.

You’ll also want to be attentive to answer their questions directly and ease any concerns. Don’t lie to them about anything – you won’t be doing your own chapter or any others a favor. You also don’t necessarily need to go into every detail about your own chapter’s programming. Leave that for formal recruitment.

Give them a general overview of greek life at your school, so they can have realistic expectations. You don’t want to sound too bias, so she is still free to make her own decision.

How do you help PNM’s make the leap to go through sorority recruitment?

Cheers!
Casey, Kate, and Rachel
